In 2018, people in Slovakia owed on average more money than they were able to save. One of the reasons is the obsession with instant gratification and impulsive online shopping. Triad developed VUB money saving button to promote savings and deposit products for the VUB bank in Slovakia, a browser plugin next to every ‘Add to Cart’ a ‘Rather save’ button. After installation, it was displayed next to every single item on the most used e-shops in Slovakia.
It’s not every day we get to tackle something as tricky as savings in a way that actually makes a difference.
VUB Bank, Slovakia's second-largest bank, wanted to promote its savings products, and our challenge was to make saving money exciting and relatable. We aimed to boost savings account deposits to €54 million and open 10,800 new accounts, all while achieving 20% spontaneous campaign awareness.
With many Slovaks struggling to save, we decided to frame it as a fun “therapy” for those looking to kick the impulse buying habit. Partnering with the hilarious Slovak actress Petra Polnisova, we created a humorous support group for saving addiction and launched a cheeky browser plugin that added a “Rather Save” button next to online shopping buttons.
The response was phenomenal! Slovaks saved three times more than the previous year—€79 million—blowing our goals out of the water. We also saw a 150% increase in new savings accounts and made headlines with our fun saving button.
